We loved our Ubud hotel. It looked as though an explorer had recently discovered it in the jungle. The salt water pool looking over the rice paddies made for some stunning sunsets and we even saw a monitor lizard! (more)Rosy Everitt
The whole holiday was fantastic, I really liked the Hindu temples at Prambanan, the carving are so well preserved and its just beautiful, make sure you have enough time to look at the smaller temples as well. (more)Jonna Law

Waking up at our luxurious Ubud accommodation to a glorious view of green rice fields - a welcome oasis of calm amid the bustling streets.
We also loved the Ubud Bali Bike tour through the countryside visiting a school and a traditional Balinese family compound, the snorkelling trip to Menjangan Island in West Bali National Park where we were lucky to see turtles and a 'trek' through the rainforest in Belimbing with a knowledgeable guide pointing out medicinal plans, fruits... The snorkelling at Menjangan Resort was absolutely fantastic. I have never seen so many different beautiful and unusual fish and corals. Ubud was fascinating and a real insight in to Bali culture. The trip upriver on the house boat in Tanjung Puting NP, Kalimantan, was extremely comfortable and enjoyable. There were lots of orangutan sightings at
the feeding stations. The fireflies in the nipa palms on the river banks are fabulous. The reefs in the Komodos Islands are simply some of the most stunning in the world and the variety of corals and sealife is prolific for the snorkeller including: manta rays, stingrays, turtles and reef sharks. Memorable parts?
Seeing Komodo dragons, manta rays and turtles in the wild, visiting local villages in Flores, particularly Wae Rebo which is only accessible after a 10k hike.
Tips?
1. Going out of season isn't a bad idea. We went in late October/early November and it was great as there were less tourists around. Although it's the start of rainy season, it didn't impede our trip at all. I imagine some places (such as Komodo/Rinca islands) are crazy in peak season.
