It was all exciting really from the beautiful beachside hotels to the wildlife parks. At Palagama beach the food was amazing especially when I was shown their own vegetable garden and we picked fresh vegetables that were cooked as individual curries for my dinner that evening. The most memorable part of our holiday was snorkelling in the Maldives. It was amazing to see sharks, fish and sea turtles on the reef. Memorable parts? We especially loved the second day of our tour, when we climbed the Sigiriya rock fortress in the morning, had a traditional lunch in a village near Habarana and interacted with the villagers in the afternoon, then saw elephants in Minneriya National Park in the evening. The amount of wildlife we encountered was just incredible! On the safari in Udawalawe National Park, we saw elephants, crocodiles, water buffalo, many bird species like Blue Tailed Bee Eaters and India Rollers and also lots of reptiles...I feel so lucky that our whale watching trip saw blue whales in their natural habitat. Too many to mention - getting to go to the North - Jaffna and Delft, the Ancient cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnuaruwa. the peaceful and beautiful beaches on the East and South coasts. Memorable parts? Gal Oya National Park, where just the two of us and our guides were able to watch 5-6 different herds of elephants quietly feeding approximately 300 m away. We were the only people present and we did not disturb the animals; furthermore, we did not feel rushed but were able to simply enjoy the experience. Wasgamuwa National Park was also worth visiting; this park is not well-frequented by tourists and so the guides and drivers seemed to genuinely value our presence there.... (more)Laura Ruykys

Memorable parts? Rainforest, elephants and monkeys Tips? Avoid kandy for any more than one night. Stay longer at the rainforest. Don't stay at the citrus...alledgelly a superior room. Not! Take your paperwork with you so you can prove what you have booked as this happened 4 times. Be firm with your driver and not to be taken to mates places!
