Croatia family activity week
Highlights
Island of Vis | sea kayaking | shoreline yoga | cycle across island | vineyards | snorkelling | slacklining in sea caves | cliff jumping | no fixed schedules | wonderful veggie cooking and cake | stay in stone house near seaDescription of Croatia family activity week
This week long family holiday adventure on the Island of Vis in Croatia, is best described as relaxingly active. You’ll be based on Vis, a beautiful island with peaceful coves, unspoiled landscapes, crystal clear Adriatic waters and great local food and wine. Our love and knowledge of the island will help your family access all its hidden corners, enjoying sea kayaking, biking, hiking, paddleboarding, yoga by the sea and slacklining in the pine forest. Our home, that we would like to share with you on Vis Island is a stone house in a small and local village. It has four bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. We have a shared open plan living room and kitchen, terraces for relaxing in the shade and a large balcony for evening meals. The house is near the sea, so you and your family can walk to one of the many beaches for swimming, snorkelling, fishing or simply relax any time in the clear Adriatic waters.
We keep guests numbers to nine people and this means when it comes to activities and the shape of your weeks stay with us, we are not restricted to a strict schedule. We have a chat with the families staying and plan the next day’s activities based on what the weather will be doing, everyone’s fitness levels and interests. Kayaking, snorkelling, paddle boarding and biking are favourites and we have all the equipment and experience to ensure everyone taking part has fun, stays safe and can explore all the islands highlights. We also try to put families with similar age children together to make a weekly adventure.
We believe that enjoying great food is as important on this holiday as the activities. At the house, you will have seven breakfasts, four lunches, afternoon cake and three evening meals. All meals served at the house are vegetarian, often plant based made using the excellent island produce. When dinner is not prepared at the house, we’ll drive you to some of the really special places to eat and enjoy the local wine that Vis offers, from agro tourism places inland to wonderful fish restaurants and great places to soak up the Dalmatian island atmosphere.
We have 11 years PE teaching background and an enormous passion for Vis island. We love sharing our 'Relaxingly Active' concept with families of all ages, and all levels of fitness and experience. Safety is a priority and we also ensure that the children are excited, motivated and thoroughly enjoying themselves, which in turn allows parents to relax and relish the experience, too. This isn’t a holiday for families looking to lie on the beach all day; it’s about exploring everything that the island has to offer and with our guidance, creating a daily family adventure.
Come and experience this Croatian gem of an island, allowing us to help you make the most out of each day of your holiday.

Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your holiday will help support conservation and local people.

Our daily transport will pre dominantly involve a combination of kayak, bicycle and foot. This is by for the best way to explore the many colour’s of Vis Island and it is far more suited to our goal of enjoying and preserving the beauty of Vis.
Certain days may include a picnic in an isolated bay – guests will be actively involved in the process of carrying out waste.
All water in guest rooms is heated through solar energy and we have installed a new drainage system to collect rainwater from all the roof area of the property. This can be then used to water the lemon tree, herb garden, vines, and be used at times should the water supply to temporarily suspended.
The Impacts of this Trip
There are a number of small, private olive and wine producing enterprises that are once again beginning to spring up on the island. We hope to develop links with such projects and provide access for guests to observe traditional methods of agriculture that are being revived. We are actively involved in Beach clean initiatives and we have a policy of no single use plastic and we recycle where possible. We purchase as much local produce as possible from our direct neighbours for our plant based meals. We donate and support a local stray cat and dog charity on the island due the lack of Vis Island Vet facilities.

Kayaking for the first time! The sea around Vis is stunning and the views from the water are something else. Craig and Xania are great instructors. Impressively relaxed with our diverse group, the youngest of whom was six. I was the only true beginner but I didn't feel out of place. Read full reviewReviewed on 08 Aug 2017 by Leone Bentley

Most memorable? Kayaking into caves, the kids jumping off rocks and cliffs, swimming off kayaks in the clearest blue water, mountain biking through vineyards to a fishing village. Early morning yoga and a swim off the rocks afterwards. Read full reviewOur travel guides
