City sights: the Acropolis & beyond
The Acropolis has watched over Athens from its craggy hilltop perch for over 2,000 years. You’ll see it from almost every street in the city and visiting its buildings, including the Parthenon, is a must. We’ll give you options for visiting when it’s cooler and quieter, so you can really enjoy the temples and museums. Other highlights include taking the funicular up Mount Lycabettus, wandering through labyrinthine neighbourhoods, and enjoying souvlaki at sunset – preferably at a rooftop terrace with a Parthenon panorama.
Athens & the Peloponnese
Fancy digging into the stories of ancient civilisations? Athens and the Peloponnese are a perfect pairing. Sites like Epidaurus and Olympus are even older than the Acropolis, and just a couple of hours’ drive away via the Corinth Canal. Our small group and tailor made tours ditch the coaches and crowds, balancing famous sites with lesser-visited archaeological treasures. Of course, it’s not all ancient history. Our holidays make sure to explore the mountain paths, vineyards and honey farms, peaceful beaches and cobbled village streets too.
Athens & Greek Islands
Many Athenians spend their holidays on the islands – and combining city and island life is a hit with our holidaymakers too. Flights are possible, but we give you the chance to opt for more relaxed, scenic and lower-carbon public transport options. Travelling by sea is easy, thanks to Athens’ three ports and high-speed routes. Santorini is about five hours away by ferry; Paros is 3-4 hours away; Evia is less than an hour away and even quicker via the car bridge. Our experts will help you choose the island that best suits your timeframe and interests.
