Athens holiday highlights

City sights: the Acropolis & beyond

The Acropolis has watched over Athens from its craggy hilltop perch for over 2,000 years. You’ll see it from almost every street in the city and visiting its buildings, including the Parthenon, is a must. We’ll give you options for visiting when it’s cooler and quieter, so you can really enjoy the temples and museums. Other highlights include taking the funicular up Mount Lycabettus, wandering through labyrinthine neighbourhoods, and enjoying souvlaki at sunset – preferably at a rooftop terrace with a Parthenon panorama.

Athens & the Peloponnese

Fancy digging into the stories of ancient civilisations? Athens and the Peloponnese are a perfect pairing. Sites like Epidaurus and Olympus are even older than the Acropolis, and just a couple of hours’ drive away via the Corinth Canal. Our small group and tailor made tours ditch the coaches and crowds, balancing famous sites with lesser-visited archaeological treasures. Of course, it’s not all ancient history. Our holidays make sure to explore the mountain paths, vineyards and honey farms, peaceful beaches and cobbled village streets too.

Athens & Greek Islands

Many Athenians spend their holidays on the islands – and combining city and island life is a hit with our holidaymakers too. Flights are possible, but we give you the chance to opt for more relaxed, scenic and lower-carbon public transport options. Travelling by sea is easy, thanks to Athens’ three ports and high-speed routes. Santorini is about five hours away by ferry; Paros is 3-4 hours away; Evia is less than an hour away and even quicker via the car bridge. Our experts will help you choose the island that best suits your timeframe and interests.

The holiday was memorable in many ways; firstly, for being so well organised from start to finish. From the quality of hotels and trips to sight-seeing and restaurant tips to efficient transfers and hire cars being delivered and picked up from the hotel door - it was family travel with all the sting taken out.Highlights were the beautiful village of Lefkes and Volax, the great boat trip around Antiparos and the delicious food all over. Paros and Tonos were wonderful islands to visit - Greece without...read more

Traveling abroad for the first time with my two young children, 8 yo and 10 yo. I wanted to incorporate some history and culture, while making space to relax and to swim and swim in Aegean. Highlights of our two week trip included visiting and having an excellent guided tour of the Parthenon/Acropolis and the modern and user-friendly Acropolis museum. We also enjoyed our time spent on Paros, in a quiet side of the island away from the touristy hustle and bustle. read more
