Spending some relaxing down-time at the Ranch was wonderful. Iguacu was impressive and very accessible esp from the Arg side. Ilha Grande was peaceful and idyllic - best seafood here!
Tips?
Go with the flow - there are some long travel days, transport arrangements don't always join up perfectly so you will need to be patient. Listen to your tour guide and tell them if you have concerns, they can't help if they don't know. Go and talk with the locals, buy local,... (more)Wendy Pountain

Speed boating into the Iguazu Falls as per the recommendation of the local guide via email before our trip.
Tips?
Bring a swimsuit and towel for the speedboat experience in the falls. Bring a change of clothes/towel for the Brazil side day of the falls.
Local benefits?
Merit Hotel was excellent in being sustainable in reducing waste. The local tour guide was great too, he even asked other visitors to the falls to stop smoking and respect the rules.

The early morning, 6:00AM, and night wildlife excursions. We went out in small boats up small rivers to look for birds, monkeys, sloths, reptiles. Even at times when there was no wildlife, the sounds of the jungle were captivating.
Tips?
Manage your expectations. The trip is for good travelers, not tourists. The Motor Yacht Tucano is amazing, but if you expect the luxuries of a modern cruise ship you will be disappointed. You will have the opportunity to make four... (more)Jim Schwarz

Machu Picchu was definitely a major highlight, but upgrading to the Belmond in Iguazu was amazing and memorable.
Tips?
Definitely give yourself some down time at the end because the first week was very busy. Also picking/upgrading our hotels proved to be worth the effort-

Yes, especially in Peru. We actually attended the children's program at the Ninos Meloc hotel.

Zip-Lining in the Cloud Forest but the Galapagos was amazing.

Definitely take a torch, wet weather clothing and a sense of humour.

Overall rating?
Brilliant but the cloud forest was a bit disappointing as we had continual rain and saw very few animals or birds. This also occurred in the Amazon. We were told by the operator that rain was minimal with short bursts. Obviously a joke.

Seeing Jaguar and Tapir were the most memorable highlights of the wildlife spotting on the trip for me though others liked the giant anteater or the lesser
anteater also called a southern Tamandua.
Tips?
The Eco lodge has a problem with bats they are nesting in the roof and their guano drops through the roof on to the beds and people in the rooms. I can
